Wild Ride Ministries? What kind of a name is that for a church
group? What religion is that? What kind of people attend your
services? Are you a fly by night deal or are you here for the
long haul? These are just a few of the questions people have
asked or at least thought about our ministry. Well let me share
a little about who we are and what we are doing.
My name is Mike Weaver. Some call me Pastor, some Brother,
some Preacher, some Crazy, you name it, but Mike will do.
I’m a minister at Wild Ride Ministries.
Our ministry started out as an outreach at rodeos, bull ridings, barrel racings, and other
western world events. In mid 2003, I had some calls from people in the Harper area who were
interested in starting a new Cowboy type Church here. Would I come? Long story short, I said
I’d pray, God answered, “YES”. We had a meeting, and everyone voted against me to keep the
name Wild Ride Ministries.
Why Ministries, not church? It is our vision to have ministries to reach all sorts of people with
all sorts of needs, and that all of our members find the area that God would have them minister
in.
What religion are we? We are Baptherncathocostalterianist. What in the world is that? The
answer is we are influenced by many Christian faiths. My dad was Baptist, my mother
Methodist, and they raised me Pentecostal. The easy way to define us is we are Christians
seeking relationship with Christ, because He is our only Lord and Savior.
As for who comes to our services? Well we have folks who have been in the Harper area all
their lives, and some who have only been here a short while. We have teachers, truck drivers,
office workers, ranch hands, real estate people, construction workers, hair dressers, students,
clowns, goons, wanna be ropers, bull riders, and characters of varied and sundry type. If you
were here, we’d have whatever you are.
How long are we here for? We started Wild Ride Ministries in 2003. We have bought property
two miles east of Harper, between Old Harper road and Hwy. 290.
